FEBBUABY U, 1921 PAGE 11 L. OF N. TO PLAN BETTER ACTION FOR WORLD'S TRAVEL Geneva (to United Press). The next duty of the League of Nations will be to help the world "get a move on." When the League of Nations Interna tional Conference on Transit takes place in Barcelona, on March 10, it will be at tended by specially selected delegates of all the recognized governments, who will have at their finger tips details and sta tistics as to the conditions of their coun try's rolling stock, the amount of traffic, the increase in rates by rail and sea, for travellers as well as goods; the consump tion of fuel; the general condition of railway systems and waterways; the de velopment of motor and aerial transport and, in fact, every scrap of information that will help the League to devise some method whereby the world may run on well-oiled wheels. Commerce in all countries is suffering badly on account of the reduction, de terioration and dislocation of all means of transport which is hampering the movement of goods and which is largely responsible for the present economic cri sis. Material essential for national ex istence is being badly distributed and the whole great scheme of imports and ex ports is thereby affected. The first talk of the Barcelona Confer ence will be to take a comprehensive sur vey of the present position and then all the great transport experts of the world will lend their knowledge and their brains to the matter of improvements. The Barcelona Conference will do in the realm of transportation what the Brussels Conference did in the realm of finance. It will endeavor to find a more satisfactory system for the distribution of available material, and a more ra tional employment of existing routes of communication. An invitation to attend has been ex tended to the United States of America, and other recognized governments have been informed with regard to the prepar atory work of the Conference, of which the chairman will be Monsieur Gabriel Ilanotaux, formerly Minister of Foreign Affairs in France.
