IMPORTANT EVENTS FOR
APRIL AND MAY
Some of the most important sports
events of the season wiil take place dur
ing the month of April. The North and
South tournament for women, March 25
30 will be followed by the Open event
April 1 and 2, and the North and South
Amateur championship will be played
April 4-9. The first annual Polo tour
nament is set for April 1-16; the Horse
Show on April 5-6, and the Dog Show
on April 7-8. The third annual Tennis
tournament starts on April 11 and will
continue throughout the week. Then
comes the North and South Target tour
nament on April 18-23, and the Jockey
Club will hold their usual race meetings
every Wednesday afternoon throughout
the month. Some 300 members of the
American Bankers Association and mem
bers of their families will gather at the
Carolina for the week of May 1-7,

A blind man has invented a type of
air-craft he says will revolutionize aerial
warfare. He is Maxim Kaczmarek, a
real estate dealer.
The sky-dreadnaught is called an
aeroplane." By a circular arrange
ment of planes Kaczmarek said his craft
can hover in the air like an eagle. This
stabalizing property would give a bomber
an opportunity to vastly increase the
number of his hits.
Kaczmarek declares his machine will
rise almost perpendicularly and land in a
spot nearly as small as its own base.
Thus necessity of take off and landing
fields are eliminated.
With the assistance of a boy mechanic
the inventor built his machine on the
roof of an office building. Instead of
parallel planes, as in the ordinary heav-ier-than-air
craft, Kaczmarek 's model has
six planes set in a circular position, like
an old-fashioned side-wheeler on the
Mississippi. The planes were placed on
top of the machine. Joined in the mid
dle they open and close like a book. The
wings on the ascent of the wheel close
and cut the air. They open up coming
down.
