APRIL 28, 1921 PAGE 7 ALL SET FOR THE BANKERS With the arrival of the special trains on Sunday next bringing the Executive Council of American Bankers from the East and West, the first week in May at Pinehurst will resemble mid-season and the Carolina will be filled to capacity, as there will be close to 400 people in the Bankers' party. The financiers are coming to Pinehurst for their annual convention and an outing of golf. They come from every state in the United States and represent one of the finest bodies of men that could be drawn together. Mr. Guy E. Bowerman, Executive Manager of the Association, has arranged the week's program so as to get in all the work possible and yet leave a big margin for play and outing pleasures. The mornings will be taken up largely with committee meetings and the business end of the affair and the afternoons will be given over entirely to recreation. In addition to the Associa tion 's golf tournament there will be va ried golfing events for all. Special bridge parties and putting contests have been arranged for the ladies; a shooting exhibition by Annie Oakley, Fiddlers' convention, horse-racing, Colored cake walk, canoe trips on the Lumbee river, dancing every evening and the Grand Ball on We'dnesday evening, and side trips through the Sandhill section, all will tend to round out a happy week for the distinguished visitors. Clark, 5 Nassau Street, New York. Their program follows: MONDAY, MAY 2 Getting acquainted. TUESDAY, MAY 3 Afternoon Golf Qualifying Round of 18 Holes. Evening Fiddler's Convention, 8:15 P. M. to 9:30. A custom brought to Pinehurst section by the early Scotch settlers. The merits of the different players are to be passed upon by judges assigned by " the Asso ciation and the contest is for Cash Prizes donated by Mr. Tufts.- WEDNESDAY, MAY 4 Afternoon Racing Matinee, 2:45 P. M. Shooting Exhibition by Annie Oakley. Putting Contest for Ladies. Evening Family and Dinner Ball Reception, 7 P M. Dinner, 7:30 P.M. THURSDAY, MAY 5 Afternoon Golf First Round Match Play. Putting Contest for Ladies. Baseball Game It is suggested that a Baseball Game be arranged between two teams from the membership of those attending the meet ing at Pinehurst. t ..Those desiring to par ticipate should register early in the Dutch Room of the Carolina. Colored Cake-Walk A Colored Cake-Walk will, be arranged to be followed by other interesting fea tures. FRIDAY, 3IAY 6 . Golf Final Round. Putting Contest for Ladies. There will be a Bridge Party for tlie Ladies every morning at .the Carolina; Canoe trips down the Lumbee River and Automobile trips through all the Sand Hills section. Judge Way Places Contract for Home at Knollwood . Judge W. A. . Way of Pittsburg, who recently bought a building site on the Knollwood property, has given Riehard Tufts a contract for the erection of a $20,000 cottage on the site, and the house will be finished and ready for occupancy by next fall. The building will be mod era throughout and will be one of the finest country homes in Moore County. The architects have completed plans for the house of Mr. James Barber on the adjoining lot and work will begin on his house at once. A dozen or more lots have been sold at Knollwood during the past few weeks and it is likely that work on other homes at that place will begin very soon. The new Crest Road, which runs at right angles with Midlands Road, is very nearly completed. Mr. and Mrs. John C. Spring Pur chase 10-Acre Tract at Pinehurst Mr. and Mrs. John C. Spring of Bos ton, who have occupied their winter home at Pinehurst, the Log Cabin, for a num ber of years, have purchased a tract of land out some distance beyond the dairy, upon which they will erect another Cabin to be used as an auxiliary with their home in the village proper. The tract contains some ten acres of ground and is situated on a beautiful knoll in the pines, and those who have seen the Spring's cabin in Pinehurst will appreciate what an attractive place their new home will be. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Barr to Build During Summer Another new cottage to be erected at Pinehurst this summer is that of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Barr of Larchmont Man or, N. Y., who recently purchased the lot in the triangle on the Carolina walk op posite the home of Mr. George Magoon. Mr. and Mrs. Barr have decided to re main in Pinehurst this summer and will occupy the Afterglow while their new cottage is in course of erection.
