Presented In Voice Recital RALEIGH - A Jackson native, Mrs. Sarah Parker Martin, was presented in her senior voice re cital at Meredith College here at 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, In Jones Auditorium. Mrs. Martin is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, M. R. Parker of Jackson. Her husband is LeRoy Martin, an auditor with the N. C. Department of Revenue. She will receive her B.S. degree with a major in music education on May 31. At Meredith, Mrs. Martin has been active in the college chor us, the ensemble, the Sociology Club and has served as a mar shal. She is a student of Miss Beatrice Donley, chairman ofthe Rich Square. Chappell presented a program to the Pine Forest Rest Home in celebra- .tion of Senior Citizens Week, set by Gov. Dan Moore for May 2-8. By proclamation President Lyndon B. Johnson has set May for Senior Citizens Month, hon oring the more than 18 million men and women in the United States who have already reached the age of 65. Of this number, more than 385,000 men and wom en in North Carolina have reach ed this age. Mrs. Chappell brought a mes sage of love to the residents of the rest home. She introduced the Rev. Dolphan Thompson, pastor of the Potecasi Baptist Church, who spoke on the topic, “The Birth of The New Work." He assured the residents of the love and interest of the people in the community in their beh^f. Special music was given by Mrs. A. L. Lassiter and Mrs. A. A.
