MERRY HILL — Approximately 200 attended the seventy-third session of Woman’s Missionary Union to West Chowan Baptist Association at the Merry Hill Baptist Church on April 6. Theme for the day was “Jesus Calls Us,” The Rev. Henry Stough gave the devotional. Mrs. William D. White, president of the Merry Hill Woman’s Missionary Union, gave the welcome. Special music was by the Rev. David McKenzie, Navajo Indian pastor from New Mexico, as he sang “It Took a Miracle.” The morning message of infor mation and inspiration was by Miss Kathryn Bullard, state WMS director. Closing prayer was by Mrs. Francis Oder, president of Lawrence WMU. The afternoon session featured young people. There was a dis cussion of some present - day problems. On the panel were Lavinia Vann, Beverly Watson, Bill Par ker, Wayne Woodard, young peo ple; and Miss White, faculty member at Chowan College, Mrs. W. E. White, Dr. Gilbert Ste phenson, the Rev. Jim Shurling, adults. Miss Janie Davis, WMU schol arship student at Chowan College, led in prayer. Following the luncheon three progressions of bridge were played. Mrs. Luther Barnes won high score prize.
