As it will probably be butj
a short time before some
may desire to announce their

having already expressed'
such a wish, wo will state in
i
the plainest terms, that the
Headlight will have no can
didate for any offico until
dominations have hoen
made. It will hjtvo a “Can
didates4 Column” which wiil
be open to everybody alike.
In this the announcements
will be published as per copy
furnished. To get an an

Superior and Supreme Court,
TJ. 8; Senator and Represent
ative $5.
The columns of the Head

will be open to all the people
to boom their friends
..y Office, but with the
distinct understanding that,
in publishing their commu
nications, it must not there
by lie inferred that the
Headlight approves or dis
approves their suggestions.
This is a free country, anji
any man in it has a right to
offer himself for office, and
claim a fair, open, free fight
before the primary, with the
assurance from him that he
will abide the result.
We will publish announce
ments whenever sent in. if
accompanied with the fee.

time. A good crop of wheat

Thousands of bushels of corn

To the Teachers Mini Pupils of
tUrfPiilrtlc School*.
Inasmuch as the 22 of Februa
ry will be a National Holiday, be
ing Washington's birth day, I re
spectfully suggest that suitable
exo/cise* be held in * every school
in the county. If yob can’t get
up a suitable program let the
children in reference to the char
acter of Washington as a citizen, a
military chieftain and statesman.
The 22nd will fall on Saturday*, so
we will say, olieerve Friday, the
[ 21st.
On the Saturday previous, the
16th of Feb., I hope the teachers
and children of all the school*
will assemble at their respective
school houses, (carrying dinner as
on school days,) and clean off the
grounds, trim trees, plant trees
and flowers, and beautify the
ground* in every possible way. If
you can whitewash such house* as
arc built of logs and rough luin
l>er, what a grand thing it would
be. The cost, if yon do the work,
will lie 60cts for brnsh and 50c ta
for lime, and the improvement
will be 100 per cent. If every
school in Richmond county will
do this, Richmond will lead the
Slut * list. This is a ren*<.m'l*
request, and compliance there
with.’will b .u;tiie result you.!
