The sex problem has been the great problem of
decent womanhood for ages causing much of the sbr
sow, the suffering, and domestic unhappiness that has
afflicted faithful wives and mothers. Mankind has al
ways been driven forward by two great forces, hunger
and sex instinct Hunger forcing men to preserve in-'
, dividual life, sex instinct driving them to continue race
life. But that which is strongest for good is also if
wrongly directed-strongest for evil. The sex instinct
which at best gives us all the precions things of life, at
worst gives us untold miseries. -
Too long a tolerant prudery has permitted the
young of our nation to grope in darkness for informa
tion on this subject Frankly but without offense "The
Spreading Evil" reveals the dangers of this course.

The following farewell address
f from CoL Minor to his men of
the 120th infantry, recently dis
charged, is sent the Post-Dispatch
by Chas. E. Ashworth, Jr, who
was a member of that regiment
that was so largely responsible
for breaking the Hindenburg line.

To the officers and men of 120th In

t. A few more days and we shall em
bark for home. No one knows how the
detachments will be handled but the
chances are many of us will never meet

- 2. This regiment came into the service
as a National Guard unit from. North
Carolina, augmented later by national
guardsmen from South Carolina and Ten
nessee, and still late by 'selective draft
men from several camps, the principal
units now being as follows: ' North Caro
lina 1553, Tennessee 406, Indiana 281,
Kentucky 259 and 'many other detach
ments, until today every state in the Un
ion is represented except , four. North
Carolina will claim us as her own and we
are justly proud of the record her sons
have made, but we owe a debt of grati
tude to the other loyal sons from many
states, who helped to make our gloripus
record, that we can never repay, and
which can never be forgotten. -.
3, Today this regiment and its recotd
belongs to the individual, men who com
pose it, as a priceless heritage, wherever
you may go. Its achievements must ever
remain a brilliant chapter, in American
Military History, and particularly so hi
the 30th Division, in which splendid Di
vision you have played the leading part
4. How you were moulded into an effi
cient fighting unit that knew no North,
South, East or West; how you bore the
first shock of battle, and then with thin
ner ranks pressed on and dh, laughing at
dangers, with never a murmur and never
a complaint, is a story too long to be told
here. - "
4. - In parting with you it is my one de
sire to let you "know your efforts are ap
preciated and admired and I hope that
your pleasant associations with the 120th.
Infantry may 'linger in your memories
long after your hardships are forgotten.
That you may return to your homes,
stronger men, more loyal citizens and
more devoted husbands, sons ajid broth
ers, is the earnest prayer of one who
counts it the g!ory and privilege of a life
time to have commanded such men. v
