They had their first meeting Friday afternoon, Oct. 10. ' The name chosen for the so ciety was "Irviner." - .Quite' a number of the Hoff man, people attended the State Fair last week. F.. Capel was taken bv sur prise Sunday, Oct..S6, when buggies anu cars laden with children. Grand children and friends hegen to arrive, bringing all kinds of presents and good things for the inner man. About 1 o'clock p. m., a long table v,v.s spread in the yard and old and young" gathered around it, and after tho blessing was asked by Rev. D. P. Bridges, all pctcd as if Mr. Hoover had never been heard of.- When all bad eaten to the full, I think there were about seven basketfuls taken up of that which remained. Tho presents which were numerous and useful were displayed, and Mr. Capel acted and said he felt almost l'ke a . sixteen-year ol'd boy, although this occasion was to remind him that it was his sixty-fifth birthday. J-ittle Misses Alberta and Grace Barrett entertained on last Saturday evening from 5 to. 7. A number of their friends at their birthday party. The littlo girls were met at the door and carried into the parlor which was tastefully decorated with flowers and pink crepe paper. After receivine 'lota of nice presents which ciated highly they played many in teresting games, then Miss Jessie McCauley rendered a beautiful solo at the piano, and then the little girls were gathered around the ta.hle whom delicious cake and cream waro nonr. ed, each cake being decorated with the number of candles, representing their ages, the candles were a light ed by the girls in the darkened Darlor. this making the parlor more beautiful. Miss Jessie McPauley cut the cake for Miss Alberta, while ivrisa t.m-j Cameron cut the other for Miss Grace after being served the little eirla marchod by twos into the yard where they enjoyed the rest of the evenimr with outdoor games. Tho following were present: Misses Ina.Mafe Reynolds, Annie McDonal. Jossie McCauly, Sela Cameron.
