Since you request items from the mill villages routes etc, I will try to write a few although news that is worth mentioning gener ally is scarce out here. We had a beautiful Easter day Sunday but unusually warm; the day. was spent here in devine service, there being three services at the church Sunday. The protracted meeting bepan her the 18th of March and closed last Sunday night. Much good was accomplished. Mr. W. Ray Anderson of Laur ens, S. C, assisted Mr. G. C. Wood, and preached many able sermons. He is a fine preacher and a good man; he won his way to the hearts of most all the peo ple that heard him. Large crowds HAMLET OPERA HOUSE HAMLET, N. C. Mr. Bennie Downer of Anson County spent a while last week here with his aunt, Mrs. Alice Webb. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Covington spent Sunday with Mrs. Coving ton's parents, Mr and Mrs. J. W. Mrs. S. F. Liles went to S. C. Monday, she being cRlled there on account of the serious illness of one of her sisters. Mrs. D. II. Peele, from near Hamlet, was visiting at her father's, Mr. John Covington's, last Sunday. We were sorry to hear of Mrs. Henry Covington suffering with rheumatism. Hope she will soon be better. The Club met with Mr. H. A. Hay wood's daughte rs at his house last Friday. Rev. Mr. Bridges filled his regular ap pointment Sunday at Carledge's Creek. Mrs. Frank Witherspoon and young daughter returned to their home in S. C. Wednesday, after a ten days visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Haywood. Mr. Will Pierce, of Marshville, was visiting at Mr. Hal Kelly's last Tuesday. Mrs. Press Covington has been visiting relatives in Raeford, Wednesday, April 13th. Norma Talmadge in "Panthea."
