Notice of Election and New
Registration.
Be it ordained by the Board of Com
missioners of the Town of Rockingham:
Section 1. That there has been filed
with the Board of Commissioners of the
Town of Rockingham, a petition si; net by
the Board of Trustees of the Rockingham
Graded School District for white and col
ored children, by the Chairman and Clerk
of said Board, requesting that an election
be ordered by this Board in said District
in accordance with House Bill 62, Senate
Bill 137, of the special session of the
General Assembly of 1921, and requesting
that a new registration of voters be had
for said election.
Section 2. That under and by virtue
of the authority contained in House Bill
62, Senate Bill 137 of the General Assem
bly of North Carolina, ratified December
15th, 1921, and pursuant to a petition of
the Board of Trustees ot the Rockingham
Graded School for white and colored chil
dren, filed with this Board, an election is
hereby called to be held in said District
on the 21st day of February 1922, for the
purpose of submitting to the qualified
voters of said District the question of the
issuance of $100,000.00 of bonds for the
purpose of erecting and equipping school
buildings in said District and the levying
of a sufficient tax for the payment of said
bonds and the interest thereon at the
maturities thereof.
Section 3. That a new registration of
the voters of said District "is hereby or
dered, and for such purpose the registration
books for the said new registration shall
be kept open between the hours of 9
o'clock a. m., t nd sunset each day (Sun
day excepted) from the 23rd day of
January, to the 11th day of February,
1922, both inclusive. On each Saturday
during the period of new registration set
forth above, the registrar shall attend
with his registration book at the voting
place for the registration of voters.
Section 4. That H. t. Guthrie is here
by designated and appointed registrar,
and Clyde Black and C. J . Jones are
designated and appointed judges for the
said new registration and election.
. Section 5. That for the purpose of
this election and new registration of
voters, the polling place shall be at the
County Court House in the Town of
Rockingham.
Section 6. That a copy of this ordi
nance signed by the Mayor and Clerk o
this Board shall be published as a no
tice of new registration at least once not
less than thirty days befori the closing of
the registration books, and as a notice of
election at least once not more than forty
days nor less than twenty days before
said election, said publications to be
made in the Post-Dispatch, a newspapci
published in the Town of Rockingham
and circulating within said school District.
