The interment was at Chapel Hill. Mrs. J. LeRoy Wiggns, of Char lotte, spent from Tuesday until today with her mother, Mrs. F. S. Mosher. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Boroughs, of Norman, were in town Mon day. Mrs. Boroughs was former ly Miss Lula Barber, raised 9 miles east of town. Dr. J. Buren Sidbury, head of probably the largest baby hos pital in the State, at Wilmington, has appointed Dr. A. C. Everett as a member ot his staff of out- of-town consulting physicians. Misses Eleanor and Rebecca Covington and Dell Gibson re turned the 30th from Carolina College, Maxton. Misses Mary Leak Scales and Sudie Jenkins returned Monday form Converse, Spartanburg. Daniel McLeod, aged 87 and One of Robeson county's oldest citizens, on May 27th at Red Springs went up in an airplane. He secured a certificate of health from his doctor before taking the ride in the air. Rev. Miss Ollie Hamer will leave here Saturday for Chapel Hill, joining a party at Durham; she will attend the graduation of a friend, F. R. Bacon, of Charlotte, and return here next Wednesday. Mme. In the primary in Scotland county last Saturday, Mr. T. Calvin Everett defeated Atty. W. H. Weatherspoon for Recorder. Mr. Everett is a brother of our townsman, Dr. A. C. Everett. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Little, Mr. Goff and Miss Ballentine returned to Charlotte Wednesday after spending three days at the club at Everett's pond. Mrs. H. C. Dockery and Miss Bessie Everett were their guests. Miss Helen Covington spent from Mav 26th to June 5th at home with her father, E. Pres Covington. She attended school at Montreat the past year, and has gone back to that resort to a position for the summer. Arriving today as the guests for several days of Mrs. Frank Leak, are: Misses Frances and Berta Hicks, of Biscoe, and their guest, Miss Hoggerbook, of Mon tezuma, Gb., Misses Daisy Walk er and Mary Anderson, of Albe marle. Miss Lillian Hasty spent Thurs day and friday ot last week at tending the finals at Davidson College. Miss Hasty, by the way, won the medal at Chicora College offered for the best short story written in that school the past year. The following young men who keep bachelor's quarters to the rear of the Municipal building were made ill Sunday supposedly from eating potato salad: Messrs. Rogerson, Steadman, Young blood, Pittman, Don Phillips, Cliff Steele and Clay Covington. The cook also became ill. How ever, they have about all recov ered now. Misses Chloe and Pratt Coving ton have returned from teaching school in the Odd Fellows Or phanage school at Goldsboro; Miss Ethel Covington from the Fairmont school, and Miss Cath erine Covington from the school at Albemarle. Miss Pratt Cov ington will return to Goldsboro on the 14th to become dietetician at the Goldsboro hospital. The King's Daughters have come across splendidly in selling the season tickets for the Chau tauqua. And the fact that the full amount of the guarantee has not been sold is in no sense due to a lack of work on their part There are 63 guarantors, but if a single one did one thing to help the sale and help themselves, no one has discovered it. Miss Helen Lone graduated from Columbia University, New York, in physical education, on Wednesday of this week; she will arrive in Rockingham tonight to remain until July 7th, when she willgO to Camp Greystone, at Tuxedo, between Asheville and Hendersonville to be councillor in physical athletics during six weeks. Next fall she will belong to the Physical Department at Garrison Forest School, near Baltimore, Md. Miss Myra Ormond will leave next week for Asheville to attend summer school; she will be away about six weeks. Mrs. Tulia Thomasson and little daughter, Bettie, are visit ing the parents of Mrs. Thomas- son, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Brewer, on Everett street. Mr. Francis Steele arrivey from Augusta Military Institute, at Fort Defiance, Va., and is with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Steele, for the summer holidays. Mrs. Henry D. Ledbetter is ex pected home from Charlotte this Thursday evening where she has been with her small son. Henry Jr., who three weeks ago was taken to that city for an operat ion for appendicitis. The little fellow was very sick but is now well enough to be brought home. Mrs. George Steele spent Wed nesday in Charlotte, on business. Mrs. J. W. Leak entertained at a charming morning sewing party this, Thursday, moming complimentary to Mrs. Harry Gaskins, who leaves Friday, and Miss Mary Brockenborough. Mrs. Robert McKenzie leaves next Monday for the State College whither she goes to attend Summer School. Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Leath have as their guest Miss Margaret Scott, jf Burke villc Va., neice of Mr. Leath. Next week they wiU have Miss Pat Cox, of Wadesboro, over for a visit.
