WOMEN The Rockingham Business and Professional Wo men's Club was honored at the State Convention of the N. C. Federation of B. & P. Women in Goldsboro, when their exhibit received such praise and comment that Mrs. J. B. Spillman, sponsor of the International Breakfast held Saturday morning, June 18, in the dining room of the Hotel Goldsboro, had the above picture taken. Ovei 100 people were present, representing twenty-six clubs. In the picture are three members of the Rockingham Club, Kathleen Hicks, retiring President, Evelyn Story, incoming President, and Mrs. Neil Cadieu, publicity chairman. With them are shown Mrs. Spillman and Mrs. Jordan of Henderson, joint hostess. What I have said of him can just as truly be said of his able eign Affairs with Mr. Lambeth and: know his outstanding work there. In fact, Mr. Lambeth 13 such an able statesman and a gentleman in every; sense of the word ; I know all the Members of the House will be very sorry to lose him. It seems especially hard to lose a Member who has been able to save money for the Government in these days. Mr. Lambeth has been able not only to save money but is is estimated that his plan will increase the sale of Government publications to 3,000,000 in three years." Mr. Lambeth is far too young, able and sincere statesman to re main in private life for long and it is hoped by the people that he has served so well that he will alter his decision at an early date and return to public service, for ' which he is so excellently fitted. Following is a brief resume of Mr. Lambeth's career as appears in the Congressional Directory: J. Walter Lambeth, Democrat, of Thomasville, N. C. ; born Janu ary 10, 1896, at Thomasville; son of John W. and Daisy (Sumner) Lambeth; A. B., Trinity College (N. C), 1916 Harvard Graduate School, 1916-'17; during World War served with the American Expeditionary Forces ; elected to the State senate in 1921; mayor of Thomasville, 1925-'29 ; elected to the Seventy-second, Seventy third, Seventy-fourth and Seventy-fifth Congresses.
