The home of Mrs. Cecil Terry
was the scene of a delightful
affair Tuesday evening, June 28,
when she entertained at a
kitchen shower in honor of Miss
Lena Covington of Ledbetters,
whose marriage took place Fri
day night, July 1.
A profusion of summer flowers
were used throughout the home
as decorations.
Games and contests were en
joyed, with prizes going to Mrs.
Kemp Garris and Mrs. O. B.
Denny.
The honoree received many
useful and attractive gifts for
the kitchen.
Assorted sandwiches and lem
onade were served.

GREENE-COVINGTON
In a quiet ceremony, Miss Le
na Covington of Ledbetters and
Lowell Greene of Ellerbe were
married Friday night, July l, at
8 o'clock in the Methodist par
sonage at Roberdel. The Rev. F.
A. Lupton officiated.
Miss Carrie Lupton rendered
a program of piano music. To
the strains of the Bridal Chorus
from Lohengrin the couple en
tered together, unattended. Dur
ing the ceremony "Traumerei"
was sofetly played.
The bride wore blue chiffon
with harmonizing accessories
and a shoulder bouquet of gar
denias, sweetheart roses, and
baby's breath!
Only members of the two im
mediate families and close
friends were present for the
ceremony.
The young couple are occupy
ing an apartment at the resi
dence of Mrs. A. D. Dumas on
Ledbetter street.
The bride is the second daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Cov
ington of Ledbetters. She at
tended the Ledbetter grammar
school and the Rockingham
high school.
The groom is the third son of
Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Greene of
Ellerbe. He received his educa
tion in the Ellerbe schools.
He has been employed with
the Richmond County Journal
for nearly two years.

Mrs. E. J. Freeman and her
two sons, Mrs. Dora Armistead
Freeman and Miss Mary Freeman
of Clemson, S. C, spent the
week-end here with their cousins,
Mrs. George Steele and Mr. John
Armistead.
Presby. Young Folks Organize GREEN LAKE CHURCH
An enthusiastic group of young
people met at the Ellerbe Presby
terian Church July 3rd at 6 P.
M. and organized the Young
People of the Church. The offi
cers elected were: President Miss
Bettie Lee Henderson; Vice-President,
Mr. W. Scott McRae; and
Secretary-Treasurer, Mrs. Edna
Stanton.
The group will meet every
Snndav at 6 P. M. in the Church
auditorium. The next meeting
will be in charge of Mrs. W. S.
McRae and the topic for the even-(
ing will be "Recreation for En
richment." '
All of the young people of El
wHp are invited to join the
group and participate in the fine
work which they are planning.
