MEMORIAL HONORS 42 WOMEN Large Gathering Present at Ex ercises at Confederate Women's . Home at Fayetteville. Fayetteville, Nov. 6. A large gathering, including many lead ers of the United Daughters of the Confederacy from various parts of the State, this afternoon witnessed the unveiling of the monument to the 42 women of the Confederacy who are buried at the North Carolina Confederate Woman's Home here. The monument was a gift from the North Carolina Division of the U. D. C. and was presented by Mrs. John Huske Anderson of Raleigh, division president, to Mrs. E. R. MacKethan, president of the J. E. B. Stuart Chapter, who in turn made e presenta tion to Charles G. Ro-,e, chairman of the board of directors of the State-owned home Mrs. Anderson paid tribute to i Mrs. MacKethan for proposing , the erection of the memorial. She was presented by Mrs. J. Ed. E, Little of Wadesboro, who was division president when the home was built and was pre sent at its opening in 1915. ESSAY CONTEST The building, savings and loan associations of North Carolina will use newspapers as the ad vertising medium for announcing and advertising the Slogan Con test, which the associations will run from Nov. 7th through Nov. 30th. $200 in prizes will be awarded, consisting of $100, first prize; and 20 prizes of $5 each, for a slogan of not more than 12 words suitable for use by the building, savings and loan asso- ciations. The North Carolina, Building & Loan League at Ral- eigh is working out the details of the contest which will be open only to residents of North Carolina.
