Miss Edmondson has visited in Rockingham on frequent occa sions and has many friends here. j Porter-Mitchell Joe Porter, Jr., Married Dec. 20 Joseph Alexander Porter, Jr, now of Danville, and Miss Mary Beth Mitchell were married in Raleigh on Dec. 20th in a pri vate ceremony at the Hayes Barton Baptist church. The bride and groom entered the church together. For the ceremony the bride wore a slate blue crepe jacket dress with navy blue accessories, and a corsage of orchids and valley lilies. Immediately following the ceremony, the couple left on a Northern trip prior to going to their home in Danville. Mrs. Porter attended Peace Junior college, and E. C. T. The Woman's Bible Study Class has invited Miss Anna Stradler of Greenville, S. C. to come and teach the Bible for two weeks. Miss Stradler is the sister of Mrs. A. E Whittemore and comes here highly recommended. She will arrive Tuesday af ternoon, January 16th, and Tuesday night she will teach the Fellowship club , at the Presbyterian church. The Rockingham Hardware was broken into sometime the night of Jan. 5th and was rob bed of between $15 and $20, a wrist watch and a pocket knife. It was thought that the thieves entered the store by breaking the lock on the back door and then left by way of the front door. On Saturday morning when the store was opened up the back door was found bolted but the lock broken. JOBS FOUND FOR 49 IN COUNTY IN DEC. Forty-nine persons in Rich mond county were found em ployment in December by the local offce of the N. C. Employ ment Service. 19 .of the persons employed were men and 29 women.
