Miss Elizabeth Ann Randolph daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Gordon Randolph of Durham, became the bride of Jerry Thomas Brooks, son of Mrs. Ethel Miles Brooks of 1102 Air port Road, Rockingham, on Sun day, December 16th. The impres sive service took place at 4:30 P. M. at Lowe's Grove Baptist church in Durham. The Rev. Robert Dorr was in charge of the ceremony. Mrs. Frances Lunceford, or ganist and Donald Strickland, soloist rendered appropriate pro gram prior to the service. Mr. Strickland sang "My Hero", 'Whither Thou Goest", "O Lord Most Holy", and "The Lord's Prayer". The attendants en tered the church by "Pomp and Circumstance" and the tradi tional wedding march was play ed only as the bride entered. The bride gven in marriage by her father, looked lovely in a wedding gown of imported Chantilly lace over bridal satin, fashioned with fitted bodice and Elizabethan neckline. Her long satin sleeves formed calla points over the hands and the bouffant skirt of Chantilly lace with front panel of satin extended into a court train. Her three tiered fingertip veil of French illusion was attached to a coronet of seed pearls and iridescent sequins. The bride carried a cascade bou quet of stephanotis and white roses centered with a corsage of American Beauty roses. Mrs. Edwin Sears of Durham, sister of the bride was matron of honor. The maid of honor was Miss Faye Randolph of Durham, also sister of -the bride. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Thomas Charles Key, Mrs. Andrew Jack son Wimberly of Durham, Miss June Quinn of Wallace, Miss Betty King of Richmond, Miss Kay Thomason of Kannapolis and Mrs. Harold Watson Brower of Greensboro. The junior bridemaid was Miss Anna Rose Marino, of $Hon Col lege, cousin of the bridle. Little Miss Gloria Lynn Maririo of Elon College also cousin of the bride was flower girl. William Earl Cain, bf Rock ingham was best man. The groomsmen were James W. Tad lock, William Eugene Bellamy, Francis Waters, John W. Gore,, Charles Dyson all of Rocking ham, and Edwin L. Sears of Durham, brother in-law of the bride. The bride's mother ohose for the wedding a street ler gth dress of crepe in Wedgewod blue with a matching hat und navy accessories. She had a mixed corsage of pink carna ions and rose buds. Mrs. Brooks wore, a street length, dres of crepe n a win ter navy blue with matching ac cessories. She had a mixed cor sage of white chrysar themums and rose buds. f The maternal grandmother, Mrs. Menta W. Tapsco ,t of Elon College, wore a street length dress of purple velvet -vath black accessories. She had a laven der orchid. The reception was huld at the home of the bride following the wedding. The bride graduated from Lowe's Grove High school in the class of 1953 aid gradu ated from East Carolina College in November, 1956. She was an honor graduate and was elected to "Who's Who is American College and Universities" mem ber of the Tau Sigma Fraternity, The bridegroom graduated from Rockingham High School in 1950 and is a Junior at East Carolina College where he is ma joring in Business Administra tion. He served three years in the United States Marine Corp. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Ann Coley to Wed The engagement of Miss Ann Pickett Coley of Wilmington is announced by her mother Mrs. Carl Y. Coley of Winston. The wedding will be next June. The groom-to-be is Roy Leon Luck enback of Raleigh and Winston. Ann is 22. Her .mother was the former Elizabeth Pickett of High Point. Ann's father was Carl Y. Coley, Rockingham boy who died. May 22, 1946, at age of 43. Anne's aunt here is Mrs. Stephen Wall Ellerbe, the for mer Bessie Queen Coley. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Frank- McLeod left on Friday, Dec. 21 for a trip to Miami, Fla. They will spend the Christmas holidays in Miami enjoying the sunny state. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Auten and children Jimmy, Lynn and Brice Auten of Charlotte are visiting Rev. and Mrs. Carl Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Curtis spent Christmas Day in Char lotte with their parents and friends. Dr. and Mrs. John Garrett and children of Walkertown are spending the holidays with their parents, Dr. and Mrs. F. B. Garrett. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Powers and little son of Iowa City and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas and two little sons of Danville, Va. are visiting their mother Mrs. J. H. Ellerbe during the holiday season. Mrs. C. A. 'Whitlock went Christmas morning by bus to Durham to spend several days with Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Lloyd and two children. Mrs. Lloyd is the former Lillian Whitlock. Sgt. and Mrs. James H. Roberts and children, Peggy and Ronnie of Fort Smith, Arkansas, are spending the holidays with rel atives and friends here, includ ing Mrs. Roberts' mother, Mrs. John Coin and sisters Mrs. Val ley Allen and other relatives. Miss Mary Alys Voorhees and her father, Jack Voorhees, spent the holidays with her grandmo ther Mrs. A. W. Lindsey on Anne street. Mary Alys is a Junior at Carolina, majoring in Journalism. Mr. and Mrs. William Wallace and four children of Albany, Ga. arrived the day after Christ mas to spend a week with her mother, Mrs. Lucy French, at her home, 301 North Randolph street. Covington announce the engagement of their daughter Cynthia Ann to James Hugh Wease, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Wease of Lincolnton. The wedding will take place February 2 in Rockingham. The bride-elect will graduate from Woman's College during January, 1957. Mr. Wease graduated from East Carolina College and is now teach ing in Denton, Maryland. Mr. Peele operates the former Sidney's, now known as The Fiesta, he having bought it March 15, 1956. Henry Glenn and Gloria Jean Hawkins Stutts have a daughter born at 12:45 o'clock on Friday morning, December 21, in Mem orial here. Glenn and Jean were married July 8, 1950, in the Baptist church at Roberdel. They have a son, Gary William, born Sept. 22, 1953. LOCAL LEGION AUXILIARY HELP Members of the American Le gion Auxiliary Unit No. 147 help ed spread Christmas wishes with baskets of food, toys and cloth ing to eight families in the county. Mrs. H. H. Kettell, chairman of the welfare committee and Mrs.. D. A. Lipe assisted by Jaines tape made the deliveries. The wortnwniie project is one that the members enjoy during the season and the Auxiliary take take much interest in help ing families. MRS. MILLER'S CLASS PROGRAM The pupils of Mrs. Carl Miller gave a piano recital at Presby- Sgt. and Mrs. Calvin Blair an nounce the birth of a daughter, Shirley Lee, weiight 5Y2 pounds, December 16 at Air Force Hospi tal, Mobile, Ala. They have one son, Robert, age 3 years. Mrs. Blair was the former Bobbie Lee Horen of Rockingham. Born, at 8:45 on Monday morning December 24th in Me morial hospital a daughter to James and Shirley Barbee Cass idy. The baby weighed 7.5 pounds. Born at 3:07 a. m. December 22nd in Memorial hospital at Rockingham a son to Thomas L. and Margie Henderson Powell. The baby weighed 10.4 pounds. S. The Rev. J. H. Clark officiat ed, using the double ring cere- i mony. Wedding music was per sented by Son Clark. The bride wore a two piece pastel blue suit with white and navy accessories. She carried a white Bible topped with an or chid and white carnations. Ushers were Lloyd Simmons and Larry Gardner. The bride and groom entered Medford of East Rockingham bad a son born December 21st in the Hamlet hospital. Claude Hicks Jr. and Svvannie Freeman Hicks have a daughter born December 20 in the Hamlet hospital. the church together and were unattended. After the ceremony they received guests in the ves tibule of the church. Mrs. Watkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Evans is a graduate of Rohanen ..High School. She is now employed by Carolina Power & Light Co. of Rockingham. Mr. Watkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Watkins, attended Rockingham High School, Win gate Jr. College and Wake For est College. He is now employ ed by Carolina Paper Mills. Later the couple left for a wedding trip to points unan nounced. When; they return they will live on School Street, East Rockingham, in their new home. .
