The Efwin Cotton Mills, of Durham, have increased their capital stock from $500,000 to 13,000.000 quite a little jump. This is the company! which is building the immense Mill at Duke and for which Mr. J.A.Williams, of this conuty, is building the houses for the employees. Mr. W. A. Potatoe, cantaloupes, water" melons, lettuce, cabbage and other vegetables were marketed profitab ly this year. That all persons holding claima against th county of Pichmond that were issued before the 'dirison of Richmond con nty and the creation of Scotland county, that, is, before the 1st Monday in December, 1900, shall be "and they are hereby required to present the same to the Board of Arbitrators hereto fore appointed to audit the outstanding indebtedness against said county of Rich mond, and apportion the amount of in debtedness ' that is. justly due by each of said counties respecUTely," within eix months from the ratification of this act. r5EC. 2. That claims which are not presented to said Board of Arbitrators before the expiration of six months from the ratification of this act shall be barred, and that this statute may be pleaded in bar of recovery. That notice of the provision of this act shall be published four successive weeks m some newspaper published in Richmond county and for four successive weeks in some newspaper published in Scotland county.
