Our conception of ideal service
a service that offers to

responsible banking methods.
Long experience with the com

The Methodist Ladies Aid

worthy cause.
Due to the inclemency of the
weather and for various other
reasons, "The Debating Club"
meeting has been postponed from
time to time. However the
said club will meet Saturday
night, April 17th, at 8 o'clock in
the Rosemarv school house for
the purpose of engaging in a
debate. Everybody cordially in
vited to be present.
Having a reputation for sell
ing goods at a low margin of pro
fit is a pretty good thing, but
even a good thing can be carried
too far as an incident told us by
one of our local merchants will
illustrate. A lady from quite a
distance in the country made the
entire rounds of the Roanoke
j Rapids stores on last Wednesday
j in a vain search for a 7c. pair of
stockings. And with dyes act -
ing like they were .made of
diamonds too!

CALL FOR MASS MEETING
Due to the fact that the attendance at the meet
ing of the lire department, property holders, and inter
ested citizens i .tiled lor last Monday night was so
small. 1 have decided to issue another call for a mass
meeting to be held in the Mayor's Office of the town of
Roanoke Rapids (second IliMir of First National Bank
Building) on next Monday night, April 19, at 7:45.
This question of adequate fire protection should be
of vital interest to every citizen of this town and those
who are interested are exacted and requested to make
it. their business to attend this meeting and bring as
many citizens with them as they can induce to attend.
The object of the meeting is to organize a Fire
Department for the t3wn of Roanoke Rapids, with a
system of regular and systematic drills under the di
rection of a trained fire fighter.
Don't forget the time or the place.
