It is, of course, en tirely a voluntary act on the part of the Roanoke Mills Company, but one which Mr. Patterson feel confident will be of mutual U-nelit to the mills and the em ploy ees. Certainly the mills do not ex pect to be repaid in dollars and cents the amount of money they wiil expend in paying the hun dreds of insurance premiums, but tney feel that the gratitude, the increased loyalty and efficiency, and the gain in the permanency of their organization will justify the expense. As far as Roanoke Rapids projier is concerned it is probalby the biggest thing that has happened since the erection of Roanoke Mills, and of course the entire community will derive material benefits from the erec tion of this new plant. Under an agreement w ith the Board of Commissioners of the Town of Roanoke Rapids the new mill buildings proper w ill not be taxed by the Town of Roanoke Rapids so long as none of the oth er mill buildings of the commun ity are included w ithin and taxed by the town of Roanoke Rapids.
