Christian Chunk Cleanings Rev. J. A. Mizelle of Jameg- ville, N. C. has moved here and ; is working for the Rosemary Manufacturing Co. lie is one of the good workers of the Chris tian Church. Has been preach ing for several years and is prov . ing to be a great help in the , work of the church here. He filled the pulpit at the morning hour last Sunday and has preach ed 4 number of times since com ing here. We feel that w ith his help the minister of the church will lie able to push the work forward as never before. The entire congregation is proud to have him with us. The jnirch lias sustained a great loss recently, in the death of Mrs. J. i;. Cox. We com mend her soul to Him who dotth all things well. Mr. Cox is one of the best supporters and work- ers that the church has, and the J congregation mourn with him and his daughter the death of the wife and mother. There were two confessions at me tunuay nignt service. Bap tism will be held next Sunday afternoon at four o'clock et the usual baptizing place near Tilgh mun's cross-roads. An all-day service with dinner on the ground will be held at River Road school house Sunday. , The morning service vvijl be at twelve o'clock (ne w time) and the afternoon service , bout two o'clock. The children's clay pro gram will be held at the morn ing hour. There was an exceedingly large audience at the evening hour. A number of visitors from Tarboro, Enfield, Warren ton and other places. The minister is still keeping up J bra rep for marrying people. The work of the Christian Church is only four years old in this community. Just a baby in number of years, but in strength is almost a full grown man. . The minister is on his fifth year, being tougher than any other minister who baa car .. w l v v LUC . community. Mnking your plans for next year's garden? Well, plan for beauty, then worK ror the plan. Let your light shine In the back yard that there shall be nothing hidden. Have gram and shrubbery in tbe back yard rather than rubbish. Some of the prettiest things In the way of plants, vines and shrubs should be In sight of tbe kitchen window. Ilnnly analeas are among the most brllllunt, hardy shrubs. All the aplreaa, herbaceous or shrub, arc benntlftil and hardy. Let your kitchen window be pic ture frame. Let the picture framed be green things growing. Let the green things be something neniiie mirnock, gimpsan weeds and coeklo hurra. Plan to screen the ogly rlews from the hack door. Vines will do it Get a root of the trumpet-creeper from the woods, and plant It In the tiack yard. Get a strong stake beside It, and keep the ylne cut back until the shrub habit Is formed. It Is beautiful. The trumpet-creeper will not spread tinleas you cut Its roots. When you do you won't have to Import any more. IN MEMORY OF VIRGINIA BELLE DOOLEY, Died Aug. 5 1917. Just one year ago to-day, love God called you home to Heaven above. Arid ever since that fatal night The world has never seemed so bright I often sit and wonder, why My precious darling had to die Was it because we loved her so? God called her from this world below. You sutlered long you murmered not. I watched you day by dav. Until at last with broken heart. I saw you pass away. More and more each day 1 miss you. Some may think the wound is ' healed. But little they know of the sor row. That's within my heart concealed. But when I reach that better land. I will clasp aain your outstret ched hand. Where sickness, sorrow, pain nor death. Can ever steal our renewed breath. By one that loved her dearer than life. Mother. at Pleasant Hill this week. 1 If a . i ..i.u iu.s. ,,ns.ow ana n Vuk.
