The most exciting runaway in tneae parts lor many moons oc curred Wednesday during the noon hour, when a horse drawing a wagon, became frightened in front of Taylor St Collier's store snd pulled off s mad race through the business section of the town, during which he encountered many obstacles, none of which stopped him however. The runaway first itruck a wagon belonging to Mr. Wells D. Tillery, this was not damaged much, the incident serving only to increase the speed of the frenzied animal On he ran miss ing severs! high priced cars by only a hairs breadth, it seemed. Finally the wagon hitched to the horse struck the car of Tuck er Fayed with such force as to jerk it 15 or 20 feet from the place it was psrked by the curb of the side walk, smashing the running board and fender. Here the wagon wu upset and only the shafts and front wheels remained futened to the horse. After striking the car he tun ed for his return trip which he made down on the eut sidewalk of the Avenue, which cleared away in short order. Hs took the sidewalk at E. B. Glover's with the hub of one wheel on the pavement snd the other wheel In the air. Thst none of the piste glass windows along this walk were smashed is miraculous, but the wheels kept this position all the way down the street An amusing incident of the sffsir wu the. complete collspse of certain youthful bravery. Said youth went forth into the street snd challenged the beut for a show down but when the horse made a fierce charge in his direction -he let bravery go and took safety first for his-he simply showed the horse how to run.
