NING CLUB WINS
MORE PRIZES
The Canning Club of Roanoke
Rapids Mills Section won many
prizes at the Rocky Mount Fair.
The canning exhibits at the
Fair were from four mills and
three counties.
The Roanoke Mills Club won
two $10.00 prizes, one $5.00 prize
and nine $1.00 prizes, making
$34.00 of prizes.
The exhibit will be carried to
the State Fair at Raleigh and to
the Tarboro Fair.
Names of those winning prizes
will be in the Paper as soon as
the money for the same is sent
out by the Fair Association.

tablespoon ful. If you have no
spray pump, use a sprinkling jot 1
having a fine muzle. j
2- Mix one ounce of Paris Green j
with five galons of water, and
snrav as directed in No (11. Or j
I mix one pound of arsenate of
Dry treatments. Dry air slaked j
limed. 1 pound.
(3) Taris green, 1 ounce.
Mix the two together thoroughly
untill all is one uniform color
with no spots or streaks showing
more green than others. Tie in-

sack, and shake over plants to be

Farmers may use either of the
above with good results, but pre
ference should be given the
arsenate of lead.
Farmers should not save cotton
seed for planting, from a field
infested with boll rot or Cotton
Anthracnose, as this disease is
carried by the seed, and so an
increased amount of damage may
be expected another year if
diseased seed is used. Those
who wish to get disease free seed
should see the county agent.

summer months. The month of
October has been set apart by
the school as enlistment month
and a special invitation is hereby

On the evening of September
27th, at the Rosemary Methodist
Parsonnge Edward H. Day and
Mary 0. Burton were married by
'Rev. Cl.ns. M. Lance pastor of
the bride. Only a few close
j friends were present to witness
this happy union, but the service
I was a very sweet and impressive
'one.
Mrs. Day is the only daughter
0f the late Jessie O. Burton and
Mrs. Virginia Burton, now living
at the old Simon's home about
one mile from Roanoke Junction
She is a young woman of many
good qualities and an admirable
disposition.
Mr. Day has spent several
years in the U. S. Army, doing
service on the Mexican Borden
and in France. He was a mem
ber of that immortal company
which helped to break the Hin-
derburg Line.
The many friends of
young couple, in Halifax
other counties, will wish
them the greatest fuccess
