He is a multi-millionaire, being president of one of the leading banks of his home city in Florida, and one of the largest property owners there. Mr. Lord is well pleased with the feature outlook for Western North Carolina and he is investing very ex tensive in real estate in Asheville, Black Mountain and Waynesville. He says that he has traveled very ex tensively and that the scenery in this county is equal and even surpasses anything that he has seen. It is understood that he will return to Sylva in a short time with a view of investing in real estate. MR. AND MRS. W. M. BROWN HOSTESS TO CAMP PARTY Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Brown enter tained on last Saturday evening at Mr. L. Zachary's Camp A. Camp supper was enjoyed Dancing and other sports were the amusements of the evening. Zachary. mss MARY ALMA WILSON HOSTESS The Children's Chapter of the Con federacy met with Misses Mary Alma and Madge Wilson on Friday after noon. Mrs. J. F. Freeze, the leader was in charge of the program. The subject, "Florida" was discussed by Margaret Hall, Madge Wilson and Margaret Wilson. Important events in Florida during the war between t^e states were giv en by Caroline Rhodes. Several piano selections were rendered by Miss Harriette Wilson. The life and sketch of the works of James Ryder Randall were given by% Harriette Wilson. The meeting closed ^ with the singing of the song "Mary land, My Maryland." During the social hour the hostess served sandwiches and tea. Mrs. M.D. Cowan and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Allison motored to Asheville on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dean and children have returned from Franklin where they have been visiting rela tives. Miss Sallie Reynolds arrived Monday to spend some time with her sister, Mrs. J. D. Cowan, Mr. R. R. Nicholson, Dr. A. S. Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Brown of Caney Fork, went to Asheville Wed nesday ,having gone over to take Mr. Brown's son, Walter,To a hospital. %
