(%p KuraKip Pubiished Weekly by THE PRINT SHOP Mrs. E. E. Brown, Pub. L. Pickiesimer, Mgr. Entered as second-c!ass matter at the post ofhce at Syiva, N. C., under the act of March 3, 1879. One Year (In county)-$1.00 One Year (Outside county)-$1.50 Sy)v*. N. C., Mar. 5. 1935 The Liquor BH1 If our legtslators are willing to ignore the 185,000 majority cast a gainst liquor by the people of N. C. just 15 months ago and desire to give the liquor interests "anoth er bite at the cherry," then I want to say thatwedrys would welcome the referendum, and in that refer endum we will make the majority 250,000! I have no idea that the voters will ever authorizeourstate government to become the agent of the distillers in Kentucky and Ohio, to sell their liquor for them to our people. I want to make this further ob servation: If the legislature con cludes to compel the people of this state to vote again on the li quor question, at a cost of fifty to a hundred thousand dollars for holding the election, then I think it nothing but fair that this legisla ture should give the people of the state an opportunity to say, not on ly whether libuor shall come into Norih Carolina and be sold legal ly, but also whether beer shall stay in North Carolina and be legally sold. Beer was put upon the peop le by the 1933 tegislature without their consent: and while we are voting, I think it nothing but fair that we should have a right to pass upon this beer issue, and let us drive it out of the state also. Every body who has exercised the slight est perception during the past year and a half knows that drunken driving and drunkenness generally have materially increased in this state since beer was legalized. May be this explains the drunken, be sotted condition in Charlotte, so When Your Heed F..!s Stuffy.. Apply Va-tro-nol ...just a few drops. Va-tro-nol pene trates deep into the nasal passages, reduces swollen membranes, clears : away clogging mu { cus, brings welcome relief. Two generous sizes ... 30^ and 50^. .USED !N T!ME HELPS PREVENT MANY COLDS widely advertised by Mr. Lassiter. We want a chance to rid this state of the dirty holes and filling stat ions where beeris sold to our boys and girls on week-days and Sun days. By all means let's have a re ferendum on beer also. It is admitted by all that boot legging is bad. because the boot legger sells liquor, and I, for one, am not willing to authorize my state to become the chief bootleg ger in N. C., for the sole purpose of collecting a little "revenue" from rags and poverty and misery and broken homes.—Robert H. Cooke, in Charlotte Observer.
