Bedding And Feeding Milch Cows. First iii respect to bed- djng. No, vv, when straw. and all kinds of bedding sell high . for cash) fatiiier felt the want of an article that, they caii really afford p tise as liberally as in former times; ', iience, cows oxen, horses and pigs are not unfrequetly left without sufficient bedding for comfort. - It is aii acknowl edged fact among stock feeders, that tho more comfortable domes ticated animals &r3 made the less., food eaten; and the better the condition of the animals. $ Milch cows must also bo well fed if they are to produ well ; for it is admitted by all thinking farmers, that it is vain to look for anything in the pail that has not gone in at the coWs mouth; Meidl, shorts, roots, potatoes or some Buch feed should supple ment 'good English hay at this season of the year, and so on till tho cows are turned Out to grass. Many suffer from small messes of milk all summer in consequence of small messes of feed at the present season,. No one fails to be the gainer who ieeds and beds his cows well. ! Permanganate of Potassa. It is asserted, is the most effect xial agent in deodorizing and cleansing old cider and beer bar rels, musty cans, and hottles. It is stated that a pint of the pre manganate turned into the niGst rusty, filthy cider or beer casks and rinsed about a few moments. will entirely decompose all fun goid growths and fermenting mat ter, and render the cask as sweet as those that are new. The deor dorizmg, disinfecting power! of the: permanganate, holding as it does five exqivalents of oxygen, is reported to be wonderful ; it will even deodorize carbolic acid. The only way to remove , imme diately the o: dor of carbolic acid from the hands is to emmerse themiri ihe liquid permanganate. The officinal solution contains tour grains to the permanganate of potassa to one fluid ounce of water. . It appears that ladies at the meetings of the New Yoxk Farmers Club, and ta&e part in the proceedings. At a late meet ing, after a long dispute between the respective advocates ot shal low ploughing and deep plough ing, Mrs, Hallock, wea-y with so much repetition and indefinite talk, asked respectfully how long they wore going to continue the repetition of opinions without satisfactory proof, one saying that shallow ploughing was best, and others that deep ploughing was best ?
