Big Slim is an outstanding mast-| er of ceremonies and puts on a| ;cnsational Australian bull whip ict with Miss Benard. Thcv a 1st •ntertain with your favorite nusic. Dick Wilson will also appeal >ii the program. He is a corne lian. magician, showman and jantominc artist. He has ap jeared in theatres, supper clubs hroughout the entertainment vorld for years. He features a nagical nonsense act designed ο delight young and old alike. Mr. Williams says these pro essional entertainers, and along vith the contests, business meet ng. exhibits and prizes will cer ainly make this year's Electric ^air one of the best shows ever. He issued a special invitation ο town people as well as Co-Op nembers to come out and enjoy his big free show. The "Big Top" used for the Ilectric Fair and Annual Meet ng is a huge canvas auditorium tretching almost a hundred rards in length, and 65 feet vide. This big canvas tent comes in ections, with each section veighing about 750 pounds. Tot al weight of the canvas near 12% tons. This weight double when the canvas is wet. Ttv ;tent can be erected by a crov of about a dozen men in abou 2*2 hours. It takes as long ti set up the 1500 steel foldinj chairs as it does to erect thi tent. Co-Op members have an elec trie system valued at $3 Vi mil ilion which they are paying for .Funds for this business wen borrowed from the Rural Elec trication Administration. bu REA does not own one foot ο line. REA only holds a mortgag: on the property. To date, thij iCo-Op has repaid $531,819.64 ο [ its debt, which includes interes ipayments of $140,389.38. I Mr. Williams pointed out tha jthe Co-Op has 1574 miles ο line, serving 7500 rural home and businesses in Horry County ι The Co-Op is also an integra part of the civic and businos: I life of the community. This Co Op has 30 employees who liv< and spend their money in thi: area. Last year the Co-Op ha( a payroll ot $93.964 52. pr.icti ; cally oll υί which was spent! 5 with local business firms. PVT. ' TAKING IT EASY—Life has been a bit hectic for the past tun weeks for Gudrun Berns, German rarm girl visiting in I'pper Horry. Γ.— (special) Lor is High School's up-and .■oming football team makes its [906 debut here Friday night in j same against Chadbourn High that promises to be a whing ling. Chadbourn supporters have sent Loris a double-barrelled ivarning that they will: 1—Bring a winning team tc Loris; and 2—Bring a bigger crowd o( rooters than Loris ran muster at the field. But Loris supporters have Jone to work with a will and indications are the crowd Fri day night will be a record areaker for a football game here. Rivalry between the twe schools is all the more intense .because Coach Kenneth McLeod has coached at both schools. J Coach McLeod had his fing ers crossed Tuesday as he look Jed forward to the same. While he has a goodly number of lut tyear's squad back, the 35 man {squad also contains some really lightweight fellows and some who have had little experience. But when the crying towel was snatched unexepectedly from his face, a not-too-unhap .py smile could be glimpsed on the coach's face. ; Loris supporters will have plenty of leadership Friday night, with Hannah Hickman and her crew of cheer leaders ready to take charge of the cherring section. Working with her will bo Annette Gore. Glen da Causey, Sara Potts. Myrm Home, Sandra Horn« and Faye Carter. The kickoff will be at 8 p. m. Admission will be $1 for adults and 50 cents for students. One reason Coach Μ c Lead didn't look too discouraged Tuesday was the fact that his backfield, all suffering injuries last week, were fit and in shape again. Generally, the linesmen look ed good. too, working out daily under the tutelage of Assistant Coach Loris Barberousse. Color will be added to the big opening game by the Conway High School band, which will play for the game. The U. S.
