Jones, s Ex-Officio Entry Taker The train bearing Secretary of State William Jennings Bryan and Mrs. Bryan ?nd United States Sena tor Luke Lea, of Tennessee, to Ashe villyeste day morning,- ran , over and insti ntly killed Miss Annie E. Williams, age 30, of Gainsville, Fid. It is said that her head was almost decapitated by the train, Southern No. 15. The accident occurred at Swannanor, a few miles out on a trestle. Miss Williams, who was a sum mer visitor, started across a small trestle, so it seems, just before hear ing the train approaching, and a little boy her nephew, who was with the unfortunate young woman, drew back a ad was saved. Trie en ineer was prevented from seeing the young woman upon the .trestle in time to stop the engine so it is claimed. The body of Miss Williams was carried to a house earby and will be conveyed to her Florida home, I lobably today, for interment. (Injcial ) Miss Annie Williams was instantly killed by Southern railway train No 15 at 10 o'clock thi morning near the depot at Swannanoa on train No 2 i from sneviiie, having arrived there last night over V e Carolina Special from her horn in Gainsville, Fla. bhe was coming to the mountains in ai effort to avoid the intens heat of her home and spend her annual vacation at the Harrison home at Swannoa. Miss Williams left the depot an d walked east on the track toward the boarding house and hrd reach ed the middle of a trestle, about three hundred yards from the de pot, when the train came out of a cut a head of her with no warning except the rar of the engine. She had no" time to jump before the engine struck her. The young woman was picked up by a train. crew under the trestle 20 feet below Citizen. Entry No-6043.
