Tear-drawing, heart talks concern ing the perilous condition of our sac rificing servants, the Boards and the ' Christ-loved fields of their opera tions; the best way to find a remedy, home and bread ;our Baptist schools, their needs, and the duty of us all toward them, with means and patron age, etc.; the church as a teaching agency; the Holy Spirit's Person; His pbode and work in, the individ ual, in the Church and in the Word; and the need" of individuals and churches to win souls by example j and effort while the days go by, not I waiting for planned periods and fixed ! programs?for all these things?these heart-talks were made by brethren Ford, Sasser, Solesby, Dcitz, G. A. Martin, Creal, C. F. Martin, Roberts and 0 'Hara. Many earnest, heart felt prayers preceded these serious utterances by the speakers, evoking expressions of regret for past imper fections and of intentions, under God, to strive harder in the futur? and J may God help us! ' From Genesis 1:24-28, (text v. 26) Dr. Creal preached in the Baptist church, 8 P. M. of the 12, an in forming and helpful sermon. In sub stance^ the sermon laid bare the true background of the christian educa tion of all the i awers ar.d faculties i \ t 1 of saiie humanity, and touched deeply and vitally upon the flesh-hampcrci urge of a soul turned loose - - pon God's path for- man, onward, out ward and upward toward the image and likeness of its Creator. After preaching, a brief drop-in on Sylva Chamber of Commerce, (in Methodist church basement) revealed a large,, brave body of busy mci, bent in unison upon the task of build ing a city beautiful, not overlooking the moral and material?"no menu pity," in point ? of patriotism and progress, ambitions and achievement. Splendid improvements are under way and Sviva's fine women impel or propel those wide awake mm in every noble undertaking, especially in the light of Dent. 8:18, and Psalms 127.1. Succeeding John B. Ensley, Harry E. Buchanan wimiingly wielded the gavel. Let "Exccisior," bretlnen, be your motto, in ev?ry sense of the word. Tlios. C. Buchanan.
