Hall, of Sylva. ^ Our bridge is all that is now lacking ^ to have one of the best little places ^ on this line of railroad. * li Jackson County Journal, February 21, 1908 v r Last Tuesday afternoon, about 3 o'clock D. Zeb Dillard was almost 1 instantly killed by an extra train, 1 west bound. The tragedy occurred P just above town on the main road ^ leading, from Sylva to Haywood county. Mr. Dillard was one of our, ^ best farmers and by his energy and * skill had accumulated quite a nice v estate. He was 54 years old and [ *leaves a wife , and twelve children ^ and a large number of^ relatives and friends. . . . Messrs. Wells and Wilson have just made a picture frame from lumber out of the old Siler residence, Q at Franklin ,that is at least 100 years q old. This lumber was cut by the Cherokee Indians and the frame now * contains the picture of the present | tribe of Cherokee Indians now in this county and Swain. . . . Last I Sunday morning at 11:30 was perhaps one of the pleasantest and most enthusiastic crowds ever seen in the Methodist church at this place. The i commodious building was filled to its j utmost capacity. The occasion was . I to hear thb sermon to the Knights ( I of Pythias of Sylva. Rev. Baylus J j Cade, of Shelby, delivered this spe- c cial sermon. The musical prograrrx } for the service, arranged by Rev. ^ C. H. The 44th anniversary J j of the Knights of Pythias was very j \ appropriately celebrated in Dillsboro, * on Wednesday night, by the mem- k bers of the order at that place.
