issue of the Pens Knot was due to the ;
unruly behavior ot certain pine knots '

It was a fine "illumination of Tar

Since the burning of the bridge

to the time, now near at hand, when
we shall have a through line,' better

seeking the malarial swamps of Flori

VILLAGE IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY.
We Hope the Village Improvement
Society, which is being formed in our
midst, will result in much , material
good to the pommunity. . A hundred
things suggest themselves in the way
of needed improvements, all of, which
seem about equally urgent; but it will
probably be best not to attempt many
things at once, rather doing throughly
a very few things. ' These, as has been
previously suggested, should be done
in that part of the town which is the j it is large, weighed in the balances .i
most conspicuous from the railroad j the' sanctuary. These are matu.-r-
and most frequented by visitors. We!that are judged by the motives of tin-

We would earnestly recommend, too, i satisfaction in being tWe at the i,,..
that we make our society one for the j ginniug of things", laying foundations
improvement of the villagers, as well
as of the village. Let us be sure that
we live up to our material improve-
ments, that is, make the decency and; , , . , J . . .
