The river banks are very flat and uninteresting, and there is nothing par tkwUr to at tract our attention, until we come within sight of the spire tf Ant werp Cathedral. This is ex tremely picturesque, with many a quaint, foreign-looking house or inn. with bright red sloping roots, and funny little Lattice wriodows peeping out in the inmt unes pected corners. The Cathedral is very impressive, as it has a tall and most graceful spire, with (seemingly) delicate lae-bVe tracery, and slender spires sup porting the stories. At the tup are three domes, each a little smaller than the previous one. which forms a beautiful finish to an attractive whole. Address. C A. SNOW & CO., orr. Patkut Orrics. Wasbiiiutoi, D. C ..The High Point .'aferrwe says: Our friend Capt. V. II. Snow in his leisure momenta has invented a pipe to go with bis "Cool Smoke" which will prove a Messing to alt smokers. The piie U two inches deep and the stem fits in at the middle. At the top the tobacco is received In to a square mould which holds an ordinary upiie full the bottom of which is a seive. The lottom ofthcpiM is fitted on the pipe tightly and on tho inside of this bottom is a small sponge which catches all the nicotine. The stem never touches the tobacco but always receives the smoke from the middle vacuum which makes it ever cool and sweet. The pipe is patented and stones until he reaches the highest point. I te leaves a light up there, and rapidly descends to the lowest depths where he places an other light, and then bids us ob serve how far apart the two are. One particular corner of this great dome, is called Prosrpines Iloudoir," and when the guide throws a strong magnesium light on this part, we see the reason. The whole place is covered with sparkling crystals. large and small, which give the appearance of diamond-strewn Moor and walls. The lights at the extremi ties of the cavern are going out. and we slowly descend, lower and lower, until it seems that we are in the very bowels of the earth, into a small chamber called the "Throne Room." Again, the guide, who seems everywhere at once, and Is most Indefatigable, mounts a height, and seating him self with dignity calls our atten tion ! the king! A tittle tocr down is a remarkably peculiar stalagmitic growth, in the shape of a crown, so only the sceptre is neeueu 10 complete me insignia of royalty. On again we g. lower and lower still to the "Hall of Draperies. Here, we are far be low the lowest point of the great cavern mentioned above, ami the staltactites have one and all taken the most beautiful shapes of ex tensive draperies. Some are like flags, others like curtains, and all are glistering white, and dripping wet with their calcareous drops. Time and space forbid my describ ing the remainder of these won derful chambers: suffice to say that each is more beautiful than the last. We pays on again and come to a tiny landing by the underground river l.crse, where the whole party embarks to be taken out of the grotto. The lights are blown out. so that we may the better see the beautiful etfect of the daylight through the clefts in the rocks. At nisi, it seems like a gleam of pale moon light, growing clearer and bright cr as we approach.
