Correspondence of The Morgan ton Herald. Washington, Jov. Utt, The complacent smiles of Presi dent Cleveland and Secretary Gresbam since the last news from Hawaii was received indicates that it contained nothiug displeas ing or disappointing to them. Hut no smiles are seeu uu the laces of those who had previously worked themselves into a frenzy over the policy of the administration 111 dealing with Hawaii, without knowing what that policy was. They expected to hear a sensation al story of the driving of the Pro visional government of Hawaii from power and the restoration of the Qneen, by U. S. marines aud sailors under command or Minister Willis, and hoied that it would have beeu accompanied by bloodshed. Therefore when the dispatches which reached Wash ington Saturday afternoon con tained nothing more sensational than the formal speeches of Minis ter Willis and President Dole, de livered when the former prcseuted his credentials as minister to the Provisional government, the mmi--sation mongers found themselves without a leg to staud 011- The administration has never been more dignified than dariug all of the senseless excitement and criticism which followed the pub lication of Secretary Gresham's recommendation concerning Haw aii. It had mapped out its pro gramme bforo 3Iiuister Willis left Washington aud notwith standing numerous contrary state nients it has not made the slight est change in that programme or in its instructions to .M mister Willis. It has from the first been convinced that its course would be fully endorsed by the unpreju diced public when the facts upon which action was taken became known, and it has declined to al low public clamor to cause it to change its plaus as to wheu these facts should be made public. That feeling is as strong to day as it ever was, and when the proper time comes the people will lie taken into the confidence of Mr. Gleveiaud and they will endorse what he has done, as they have so often done before, and theu, Uis would-be critics will be sorry they did not wait awhile. The sub-committees which have been preparing the various schedules of the uew tariiT bill nave finished their work and the completed bill is now being con sidered by the lull democratic membership of the committee on n 1 wr -m as auu jieaus. w nue some minor changes may be made in the bill before it is made public it is practically finished and the repub lican members of the committee will probably I furnished with printed copies of it within ten days, so that it will be ready to report to the House during th first week of the session. The bill has been approved by the Presi 1 Ain, 4- n n. .1 V. . A 1- : .A. . ucm, auu uis cauiuec anil iy iue executive committee of the Nation al Democratic committee, and will A. not do suomstted to a caucus be fore being reported to the Houe. 1 am not at liberty to give auy de tail 01 tne Dili at this time but can say without violating confidence that it is from beginning to end a thoroughly democratic measure. It is the present iuteuttori of the party leaders to push the bill mrougn the House before the Christmas recess. It is probable that the National Democratic committee will open headquarters iu Washington in time to take a moie active part iu it. . 1 - - - iue preliminary work of the Cou t.'"suuai campaign ot next year man it nas been customary for iue national committee to take. It is not intended that it shall in auy sense supercede the Congies sionai campaign committee, but mat it shall act in conjunction therewith. In all of the departmental au- nnai reports which have l.n completed there is one noticeable feature that is essentially demo cratic, recommeiulations looking to rt arUs economy in public expendi tures. Wherever reductions are possible under existing laws they trill tctlra timo r. . i . ..... uuic ij uuuu iue results ot a long series of extravagant re publican legislation, but it will be doue, and at the earliest iKssib!e moment. President Cleveland was never apparently in oettei health than at this time. Since be moved his family from bis country residence to the White House he spends about an hour every day in walk ing around the extensive grounds in the rear of the White House and he is almost invariably ac companied by Mrs. Cleveland, who is again the very picture or health, while the nurse and the tw babies are usually not rar off. Owing to the presence of an un usual number of cranks and tramps in Washington tl14-.se grounds are closed to the public most of the time, but there is no truth ia the stories printed or Mr Cleveland's beiug followed around by a lot of private detectives. Dyspepsia and Indigestion are the easiest things in the world to cure if they are treated right. Common sense teaches us that the stomach and dicet ive organs have beeu overworked and digestion dots not take place before fermentation begins. Now what i t be done?
