OUR RECORD IS AT STAKE!
June 18, 1945
TO THE PEOPLE OF ROXBORO AND PERSON COUNTY:
You are entirely familiar with the SEVENTH WAR LOAN, and the quota for PERSON COUNTY is:
E Bonds $248,000.00
All Others 296,000.00
Earlier than today we have not been permitted to make any announcement concerning the sale of bonds
other than E bonds. You will be pleased to learn that the total sales now stand at about $420,000.00 against
a quota of $296,000.00. This means that you have already oversubscribed the “all others” by more the FORTY
PER CENT. There will be additional sales, and we do not need to spend any time worrying about this portion
of our obligation.
So far, in this SEVENTH WAR LOAN, you have purchased a total of $173,600.00 in E bonds. This
happens to he exactly 70 per cent of the quota of $248,000.00, and on this date we can make the following
PERSON COUNTY 70 Pet.
THE UNITED STATES 65 Pet.
THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA 56 Pet.
In every undertaking in connection with the WAR EFFORT, we have met and exceeded the duties and
the obligations we were asked to meet. We have every faith and belief that this record will be preserved, but
in order to do this, we need to sell nearly $75,000.00 additional in E We have just a little more than
two weeks in which to do this, and we will need to make sales which will equal the following distribution:
$5000.00 5 SALES @ 3750.00 18,750.00
1000.00 25 SALES @ 750.00 18,750.00
500.00 50 SALES @ 375.00 18,750.00
100.00 100 SALES @ 75.00 7,500.00
50.00 150 SALES @ 37.50 5,625.00
25.00 300 SALES @ 18.75 5,625.00
Please look this over carefully and proceed to TRADE YOUR CASH for all additional E bonds you
possibly can. Remember this is the only bond ever issued by the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT which
becomes a DEMAND NOTE after sixty days. BUY THEM AND KEEP THEM. They are better than MONEY
because they earn interest.
General Eisenhower has returned to Washington today. He receives and deserves the thanks of a grate
ful people. Not many of us will ever see him, but we can express our gratitude to him and to all the others—
pecially the PERSON COUNTY boys and girls—by making it our business to see that once again our quota is
met and passed..
