June 18, 1945 TO THE PEOPLE OF ROXBORO AND PERSON COUNTY: You are entirely familiar with the SEVENTH WAR LOAN, and the quota for PERSON COUNTY is: E Bonds $248,000.00 All Others 296,000.00 544,000.00 Earlier than today we have not been permitted to make any announcement concerning the sale of bonds other than E bonds. You will be pleased to learn that the total sales now stand at about $420,000.00 against a quota of $296,000.00. This means that you have already oversubscribed the “all others” by more the FORTY PER CENT. There will be additional sales, and we do not need to spend any time worrying about this portion of our obligation. So far, in this SEVENTH WAR LOAN, you have purchased a total of $173,600.00 in E bonds. This happens to he exactly 70 per cent of the quota of $248,000.00, and on this date we can make the following comparisons: PERSON COUNTY 70 Pet. THE UNITED STATES 65 Pet. THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA 56 Pet. In every undertaking in connection with the WAR EFFORT, we have met and exceeded the duties and the obligations we were asked to meet. Remember this is the only bond ever issued by the UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT which becomes a DEMAND NOTE after sixty days. BUY THEM AND KEEP THEM.
