MONDAY, MAY 6, 1946 # Virgilina News Items By Mrs. W. D. Amis With the low temperature of the past week, it seems that winter is lingering in the lap of spring. The | good shbwers were much -needed. The pastor, the Rev. H. C. Gregory, delivered an able sermon to his congregation on Sunday morning at the Methodist church. He announced that at his next meet ing here that plans were being formulated to have representives lrom all the- local churches to dis cuss plans for Community Missions. Evening services were held on Sun ) day night at the' Christian church. Dr. C. E. Newman, the pastor, presented a message on Vanity which was preceded by interesting comments on the book of Ecclesiates. Text used was “Fear God and Keep His Commandments”, which was the final conclusion of Soloman with all his wealth and honors. Announcement was made of the Sunday School Rally of the Virginia | and North Carolina Christian w churches to be held here on June 13. Club Receives Prize The Virgilina Woman's Club has been awarded first prize of $50.00 by the Richmond News Leader for Citizenship in Action. This award was made at the Wednesday evening session of the Convention of the Virginia Federa tion of Woman’s club held in Hotel . Jefferson, Richmond, Apr. 23—:24 I 25th. Personals Mr. and Mi's. B. Meets The monthly meeting of the Woman's Missionary Society was held last Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. E. R. Harris. Using the monthly topic, Mrs. M. A.
