A2 The Courier-Times, Roxboro, N.C., Wednesday, April 20, 2011 Frightening reminder about life O ccasionally 1 have nightmares about tornados. In those dreams 1 see one coming towards me and feel helpless as 1 wait for it to hit. 1 had never actually experienced one, or even seen one, until Saturday. My sister, Tyson, and 1 were coming back home from town when the rain started. 1 heard something on my car radio about a tornado warn ing in Caswell County, but didn’t think too much of it. As we sat eating lunch in the kitchen the wind started picking up and Tyson and 1 mentioned to each other that we had just heard the warnings for neighboring counties. Then, a few minutes later, a big gust hit, the house shook a little and we heard a faint thump. At this point we decided to relocate to the bathroom, where Tyson looked out of the window and said she saw the large oak tree in our backyard falling. At the time 1 thought she was referring to the large chunks of limbs blowing off the trees, because that’s all 1 could see from where 1 was standing, but even that was enough to con vince me this was no ordinary storm. We ducked down and moved closer to the middle of the house as the storm quickly passed. 1 still wasn’t thinking “tornado” until Tyson said, “1 think that was a tornado.” That statement was pretty much confirmed when 1 opened the front door and saw the top half of the oak tree in the front yard rammed into the ground over by the side of the porch. The porch itself was missing two posts. 1 didn’t realize how blessed we were to be alive until 1 was able to walk around outside and survey the damage. If the part of the tree in the front yard had not miraculous ly fallen or been blown to the side, and if the uprooted tree in the back had not fallen away from the house, we would have had a vastly different experi ence that afternoon. God had protected us when we barely even knew to seek protection. It was a frightening reminder that this life is too fragile and too short to waste on ultimately meaningless pur suits, rather than fostering an ever-deepening relation ship with God and helping others to do the same. 1 have certainly seen God working in this community through the storm, through those who have helped us along with others, who experienced much more damage than we did. It is amazing how quickly things are being cleaned up along the storm’s path by the many people willing to lend a helping hand, and by those with power companies and emergency services, who have worked tirelessly and ef ficiently at their jobs. According to a national drug store survey, the formula at one time became so popular that it rose to the top of pharmacy sales for topical pain relievers. But the company mar keting the product at the time changed the formula and sales plummeted. One of the inventors of the original formula has brought it back to the market under the trade name ARTH ARREST and says it can relieve pain for millions. ARTH ARREST works by a dual mecha nism whereby one ingredient relieves pain immediately, while a second ingredient seeks out and destroys the pain messenger signal before it can be sent to the brain. Consid ered a medical miracle by some, the ARTH ARREST formula is useful in the treatment of painful disorders ranging from minor aches and pains to more serious conditions such as arthritis, bursitis, rheumatism, ten donitis, backache and more. ARTH ARREST is available in a conve nient roll-on applicator at pharmacies with out a prescription or call 1-800-339-3301..
