If there was a best dad contest, mine would win This Sunday is the day that we give to our fathers. All the mamas and kids go and find that one thing that their dads have been talking about for months. Dads will say, “Hey this would be perfect for Father’s Day” My daddy and I went to dinner the other day It was one of those daughter and dad dinners. After we ate we went to this store in the shopping center called the Team Store. While we were in there my dad saw this Tar Heel coffee cup and said it would make a good father’s day gift. I’m sure my daddy is not the only dad that does that. One thing that you need to know about my daddy is that he is the ulti mate Tar Heels fan. My dad and I hang out all the time. My favorite thing to do with my dad is go to Tar Heel football games. My dad and I will yell and talk about the bad plays. We also watch all NFL games, college basketball, away college football, college world series, Tour de France and on Thursdays, the TV show Big Bang on CBS. If my dad is out of town I will watch the games for him, like I watched the Carolina and Duke ACC game for him. He was in Germany and could not watch it. When I was little, before my sister Shelby Linn was born my favorite things to do with my dad were to go to Lowe’s and wash his blue truck. Still, even though I’m going to be a freshman in high school, I McKenzie Lester Guest Columnist Rising 9th grader at NWHS like to go everywhere with my dad. My dad always has a project in the yard like planting new flowers or trees. My dad and I will go to Lowe’s or Home Depot, depending on what we need. My mama and dad really liked a picture I took of a flower. My daddy said, “Hey, can you take pictures of all the flowers in the yard?” And I said, “Yea.” So, I made a PowerPoint with pictures. I will show it to him on Father’s Day My daddy is the neatest man you will meet. Everything has to have a place. Like my dog Louie’s toys or Shelby Linn’s stuff. My dad really hates it when Louie chews up something. There is one thing my dad will let Louie chew. That is the paper towel rolls. My dad told Shelby Linn and I that he could have the rolls if we clean it up. In our house, if you leave things ly ing everywhere, our dad will tell us to put them where they belong. Even Louie gets in trouble for making a mess. We tell him not to do it and he is a bad boy. I love my daddy very much. I will always love him and remember him all my life. He is doing and caring for his fam ily members, even if he is across the Atlantic Ocean. He is directing and loving each and every one of us, and even our dog Louie. You know if there was a contest called “World’s Best Dad” my dad would win first prize. I guess there is one last thing to say to all dads out there, including mine — Happy Fathers Day!
