The three-time American Country Award winner will perform in Dorton Arena on Saturday, Oct. 15. The country crooner’s hits include “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll with It.” Other Dorton Arena acts were announced in mid-July but fair officials were unable to an nounce Corbin’s appearance un til after his July 30 performance in Raleigh. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets will cost $10 and go on sale today at 10 a.m., along with tickets for all other Dorton Are na concerts, at www.ncstatefair. org. Admission, ride and grand stand tickets will also be avail able today at 10 a.m. Advance admission tickets are $6 for adults and $2 for children. These prices save $2 per adult admis sion ticket and $1 per child’s ticket. Adult admission tickets for groups of 40 or more are $5 each. An 18-ticket ride sheet will cost $10 in advance, saving fairgoers $8 off the price of ride tickets at the fair. Children un der age 6 and adults 65 and over get in free. Prep work is required before class dates. Those interested need to call the instructor so she can e-mail the pattern or complete the prep work herself. This is a floral painting so some floral brushes are required and also some Bob Ross soft paints. The Cha-z-linn class will be Monday, Aug. 22 and students chose “Moonlite Walk on the Beach” painted on an 18 by 24-inch canvas. Students must first prep the canvas with two-inch masking tape on all sides to form a border and then paint the inside area with black gesso. Both classes start at 9 a.m. and will be full day classes ending around 5 p.m. Students must call Elaine Harris three days prior to the class date for enrollment. During this guided tour, the ranger will help participants ap preciate nature in a way normal ly not seen — in the dark. Hikers are advised to wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes with good support and to remember to bring refresh ments, plenty of drinking water and a flashlight.
