SUBMinED Veterans ’ Christmas Tree There was a “great turnout” for the first ever Veterans’ Christmas Tree Ceremony held at the Person County Senior Center on De pot Street in Roxboro, said organizers. The ceremony was held on Thursday, Dec. 1 at the Senior Center. Throughout the months of October and November the organizers at the Senior Center asked people to honor veterans by providing a bit of information so that a personalized ornament could be made for the tree to honor the veterans’ contributions to the country. Over 60 ornaments were placed on the tree honoring both past and present veterans. Several family members and friends hung their loved one’s ornament on the tree. Eight veterans were also in attendance. The organizers said they hope to make this an annual event.
