The last issue of Salmaguns di, published at Portsmouth, Va., contained a well written and handsomely illustrated article ' concerning Vass,- a new and coming town 8 miles north of Southern Pines. This own is" blessed with ' some very superior natural advantages, ancMts promoters , who are residents of Southern Pines, and who are assisted by Dr, C. H. Leslie, have great hopes of making it an ideal Southern city in the near future. ''Longleaf," so designated by Mr. Beck, is situated a mile further north and is a natural park of 400 acres unequaled for its beau tiful scenery and attractive ness. ' ' At Vass .is situated fhe Moore County Brick Co. , an organized institution with a capital of $10,000, owned and operated by( the above named gentlemen, and who have nearly 700; acres of land con taining an excellent clay for making brick. They have a contract now for making 1, 000,000 brick to be delivered this season, and are in full operation, turning out 25,000 brick per day.
