Grout and wife arrived at home last week after making a lengthy visit in the North. Dr. W. P. Swett is in receipt of a letter from Prof. F. W. Van Camp, the recently elected principal of the public school, saying that he will ar rive to-night or to.-morrow. Littleton Female college will have a special train, from Weldon to Little ton September 17th, to leave Weidbn on arrival of the Atlantic Coast Line afternoon train from the South. There will be a special meeting of Aberdeen Masonic Lodge, No 484, at Castle Hall Monday evening' next at 8 o'clock, to confer the 2nd degree. All Masons in good standing cordial ly invited. The third birthday of little Emily Kimball, daughter of Mr. and Mrs; A. G. Kimball, was remembered very pleasantly by a party of her play mates on last Saturday afternoon. Several hours were spent in games etc., a dainty little supper was served and the little lady honored was the recipient of a number of pretty presents from her juvenile friends. G. A. Kimball will remove next week from the Kingston cottage into the house lately known as Glenwood cottage. Extensive additions and improvements are being made and when they are completed the house will have 18 rooms and bath, with modern plumbing and all convenien- ces. it will oe conducted as a nrst class boarding house and be known as Kimball Cottage. W. E. Giles, of the Southern Pines hotel, has just received a fine, new Edison Concert Grand Phonograph, with a 60 inch horn or megaphone attachment, 21 inches in circum ference at the larger end. He also has a fine line of new 5 inch records, embracing some of the very latest selections, both, vocal and instruc mental .
