June 1995 at the completion of the
University’s S4OO million Bicentennial
campaign.
—The UNC Board ofTrustees approved
three visitation policies that gave on
campus students the option of choosing
the policy they want the current
policy, which allows opposite-sex visi
tors from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. weekdays and
9 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends; 24-hour
unlimited visitation on weekends; or 24-
hour unlimited visitation at all times.
Patrick Orlando Riley of Durham
became the first person arrested under
Chapel Hill’s stricter gun control ordi
nances, which went into effect Dec. 1.
Riley was issued a citation under the
ordinances, which prohibit the display
or use of firearms by persons under the
influence of alcohol or drugs.

dent William Scott Bames was arrested
and charged with involuntary man
slaughter, a little more than a week after
his gun killed Stewart at the Chi Psi
Lodge.
Gov. Jim Hunt opens a special
session of the N.C. legislature to deal
with his 36-point crime plan.
lA Jose Genaro Diaz, a pediatric
X U resident at UNC Hospitals, was
arrested and charged with first-degree
sexual offense after a patient accused
him of assault. Diaz was suspended with
out pay a day after his arrest.
The last time the UNC women’s
basketball team lost a game. Once again,
the Tar Heels lost to the Wahoos, this
time in Charlottesville, 83-74.

group in "Buy Back the Hill,” a joint
effort to get guns off the streets of Chapel
Hill. Chi Psi decided to sponsor the
program, which would buy guns from
their owners, and help the group raise
funds for the buyback.

champion. Before a home crowd at the
Smith Center, Jaworsky beat Oregon

No. 1 North Carolina’s season with a

years that the Tar Heels did not advance
