AO Chancellor Paul Hardin Zd O anounced to the UNC community that he would resign from his post in June 1995 at the completion of the University’s S4OO million Bicentennial campaign. —The UNC Board ofTrustees approved three visitation policies that gave on campus students the option of choosing the policy they want the current policy, which allows opposite-sex visi tors from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends; 24-hour unlimited visitation on weekends; or 24- hour unlimited visitation at all times. Patrick Orlando Riley of Durham became the first person arrested under Chapel Hill’s stricter gun control ordi nances, which went into effect Dec. 1. Riley was issued a citation under the ordinances, which prohibit the display or use of firearms by persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Chi Psi decided to sponsor the program, which would buy guns from their owners, and help the group raise funds for the buyback.
