Building contractors were called in to estimate the cost of repairs and found structural dam age requiring renovation, said Dillon Barnes, president of Delta Zeta sorority. “It’s a gorgeous house, but they have discovered structural things that needed repair,” Director of Greek Affairs Ron Binder said. UNIVERSITY Barnes said the construction at the house has forced residents to temporarily relocate. The displaced Delta Zeta mem bers are currently residing in the Caro lina Apartments and are not being as sessed any extra costs, she said. “The Student House Corporation and the National Chapter (of Delta Zeta) have put up the members in fully fur nished apartments," Binder said. “They really did right by them and did not pass on the cost to the students.” Because of liability concerns, Delta Zeta was forced to conduct most of their rush events in a tent outside the house. The final rush event was held at the Carolina Inn, Barnes said. They definitely took the high road,” Binder said. Barnes said the adversity the sorority had gone through was a growing experi ence for the group. “We had an awesome rush,” Barnes said. “Thewholesituationbroughtusall a lot closer together.” Barnes said the house, located on Hillsborough Street, was built in 1989 and houses 34 to 40 women. The repairs, which are scheduled to be completed in 60 days, will include the addition of a chapter room downstairs and a sprinkler system, Barnes said. Campus Calendar Wednesday 3 p.m. - Circle K will organize a campus cleanup project. All interested should meet in the Pit. 3 p.m. - The UNC Study Abroad Office will hold an information session for programs in Mexico in Union 206. This meeting will be followed by another session on Brazil, Argen tina, Ecuador and internships in Madrid at 4 p.m. 4 p.m. - cONcEpt (of colors), UNC’s multicultural models, will be holding interest sessions in the Student Union. Everyone inter ested in style and multiculturalism is invited to attend.
