major. “Being part of the club gives me
incentive to read the stuff I want to.”
Although Handy said he still read
roughly the same amount since he
joined his book club, he said he now
chooses different styles of books.
“I have read things I wouldn’t have
read otherwise,” he said.
Handy added that reading and talk
ing about a variety of books added
spice to his understanding of novels.
Margaret Grayson, the sales floor
manager of the Bull’s Head Bookshop,
was of the same mind.
She said the store offered a 20 per
cent discount on books sold to book
clubs.
“It’s our way of helping,” Grayson
said, explaining the discount. “Book
clubs are just a great way for people to
get together and discuss topics.”

for pedestrians. “In general, I would say
about 50 percent of the cars I encounter
stop.”
