Moylan doubled in first baseman Ryan
Earey.
Before playing first base in
Saturday’s second game, Earey pitched
a solid 6 2/3 innings in the first game to
contribute to the 5-3 UNC victor)’.
Reliever Derrick DePriest picked up
his second win of the season in 3 1/3
innings of work. DePriest helped him
self out by preserving a 3-3 tie with a
heads-up defensive play.
DePriest foiled a squeeze attempt by
the Blue Devils (14-36, 4-17) by fielding
the bunt and getting the ball to Moylan.
Moylan then ran down Duke’s Jeff
Becker before throwing the batter, Wes
Goodner, out at second base to com
plete the inning-ending double play.
“If they execute the squeeze in the
last inning, we probably lose,” Fox said.
“Some of those bad things that hap
pened to us at Wake Forest with not
fielding bunts made our guys concen

Sam Paul has been named ACC Coach
of the Year for the second time. Paul’s
Tar Heels finished second overall in the
ACC with a 6-2 record and advanced to
the finals of the ACC Championships
before losing to Duke.
