Voting for Homecoming king and queen will be open at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning and polls dose at 10 p.m. that evening, officials said. Winners will be announced at half time during the Homecoming foot ball game Saturday, where the Tar Heels will take on the Demon Deacons from Wake Forest. Like last year, students will have the option of registering their vote at Suite C in the Student Union if they are having trouble voting online. “We’re trying to make this a more stu dent-friendly election and trying to get more people involved,” said CAA Assistant Homecoming Director Eryn Linkous. A selection committee narrowed down the contestants to three candidates for king and three candidates for queen. The committee was composed of Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Sue Kitchens, CAA President Reid Chaney, Senior Class President Ben Singer, for mer Senior Class Vice President Ursula Dimmling, CAA Homecoming Director Kris Willett, Student Body President Justin Young and Congress Speaker Mark Townsend. For students who would like to learn more about the different candi dates running for Homecoming king and queen, the CAA will post a link on its home page to a site giving the names, background information and pictures of all the candidates, officials said. The CAA along with the Residence Hall Association, also is providing stu dents with the opportunity to meet the candidates in person at a kickoff lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Polk Place today, one of the many events taking place during Homecoming week.
