CAA Hopes Online Voting Will Create 'Student-Friendly' Election
Students will be able to
meet Homecoming king and
queen candidates today
from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Homecoming week is here, which
means elections for Homecoming roy
alty are just around the comer.
Voting for Homecoming king and
queen will be open at 8 a.m. on
Wednesday morning and polls dose at
10 p.m. that evening, officials said.

announced at half
time during the
Homecoming foot
ball game
Saturday, where
the Tar Heels will
take on the Demon
Deacons from
Wake Forest.

down the contestants to three candidates
for king and three candidates for queen.

For students
who would like to
learn more about
the different candi
dates running for
Homecoming king
and queen, the CAA will post a link on
its home page to a site giving the names,
background information and pictures of
all the candidates, officials said.
The CAA along with the Residence
Hall Association, also is providing stu
dents with the opportunity to meet the
candidates in person at a kickoff lunch
from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Polk Place
today, one of the many events taking
place during Homecoming week.

Homecoming elections are going to
be held on the same day as Congress’
special elections. Elections board offi
cials hope that by grouping the two elec
tions together, student participation in
voting for representatives in both the
Homecoming court, as well as in
Congress, will rise.
“The thing that I think will increase
voter turnout is the two-in-one election,"
Margolis said.
