The Law Library supports the education of UNC-Chapel Hill law
students; serves as a research partner with faculty and students;
and strives to meet the legal information needs of UNC-Chapel
Hill students and faculty, the legal community, and the citizens
of North Carolina.
Collections:
The Law Library collection includes basic Anglo-American legal
materials; treatises, digests, encyclopedias, citations, and loose
leaf services; records and briefs for the North Carolina courts,
the Fourth Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme
Court; and selected Federal government documents. The col
lection has special strengths in banking law and civil rights.

The Health Sciences Library (HSL) is your partner in the search,
selection and delivery of the best health resources and information.
The Library will remain open during its renovation which will be
completed in 2004. Although floor and study space will be
reduced, all library services will remain operational. Collections
onsite are accessible. Collections ofisite are available by request.

Hidden Treasures
In addition to the collections found in Davis, House Undergraduate, '■ #0* v i, %
and Wilson libraries, the Academic Affairs Library system includes jS v '’ 4, <,.
many collections that focus on special subject areas. These depart- -* 1,
mental libraries are scattered around the campus in or near the acad- i ? is <ST *
emic departments they serve. For example, the Music Library is in Hill it % * Tk | v 4, r,
Hall, and the Chapin Planning Library is in New East. While the col- a
lections in departmental libraries emphasize specific disciplines, the \ ’/a*.
libraries are all part of the UNC-Chapel Hill Library System and are J £ f
open to the public. Your UNC One Card or Library Borrowers Card i-a
entitles you to borrow materials from any of them. The back page of

Services:
Borrowing: UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, students, and staff use
their valid UNC One Cards. Others may apply for borrowing
privileges at the Circulation Desk.
Reference: The staff at the Reference Desk helps patrons with
legal research and with questions about the collection but does not
give legal advice. Email questions to Law_Reference@unc.edu-
Tours and Instruction: Contact the head of Research and
User Services at 962-1605. These sessions can be tailored to a
particular class.

The Law Library' Web site (library.law.unc.edu) provides infor
mation about hours, policies, and services, as well as links to
judicial opinions, statutes, regulations, and other major legal
resources from North Carolina, the Federal government, and
the international community.

Help, you can request help with books, journals, databases,
the Internet, library services, and more. Live Online Help is
available Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.; Monday-Thursday
6-7 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday 3-4 p.m.
At It A librarian: The HSL Ask A Librarian service is provid
ed by library staff with expertise in the use of medical informa
tion for education, patient care, and research purposes. Ask A
Librarian is monitored throughout the day, Monday-Thursday,
8 a.m -9 p.m.; and until 5 p.m. on Friday. Over the weekend,
you can expect a reply within 24 hours. During library hours,
you may also call 962-0800.
