Mainstreet Lenoir, located on the first floor of Lenoir Dining Hall, now has a sushi bar in addi tion to its fast food chain restau rants such as Subway and Burger King. The sushi bar is one of several attempts by CDS to offer students a wider variety of dining options. The “Miso: Rice and Noodle” sushi bar, opened earlier this month, has already become popu lar among many students. As they sampled the cuisine for the first time, some students said they are excited about the new option for dining. “I think the sushi bar is great," said Adam Schaefer, a second-year law student. “It offers much need ed ethnic diversity.” To provide information about the types of sushi offered, Lynn LawTence, the local demonstrator with Misos's wholesaler, AFC Corp., was at Lenoir on Monday wearing a traditional Japanese kimono. She said she was glad to see that the sushi bar was received so well by students. “We want to overcome the stig ma that sushi means raw fish,” she Duke Continuing Studies Test Preparation 7]gre All materials included Saturdays or evenings at Duke $450 All materials included Saturdays or evenings at Duke $450 T-SHIRTS * 684 6259 www.learnmore.duke.edu/testprep University said. She explained that sushi actu ally means pickled rice, and 70 percent of the menu is fully cooked seafood and fresh vegeta bles. The menu also offers vege tarian sushi and traditional raw fish sushi. To entice students, Miso has been offering free samples, and Lawrence said it will continue to to do so for students who are squeamish about trying sushi. Mainstreet Lenoir also is sched uled to introduce Alpine Bagles later this year, and a Mongolian food stand is planned to be opened next to Miso. Students also will notice changes to Top of Lenoir, UNC’s main dining facility, located on the second floor of Lenoir Hall. “This year we’re really looking to refresh the food in Lenoir,” said Ira Simon, CDS director. “We’re com ing up with new ideas to really make it exciting.” Simon said that although Lenoir offers many different din ing options, CDS is trying to offer students a constantly changing menu to provide more variety. “Because a lot of choices were the same everyday, many students complained that there was no vari ety,” he said.
