And for many the trip to this year’s Commencement ceremony is both exciting and scary. “On one hand I’m excited to be ending my senior year.... To commemorate the seniors’ final days at UNC, the class of 2006’s career/alumni committed along with the General Alumni Association are sponsoring “100 Days ‘til Graduation” Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. inthe Pit. The event marks the beginning of the end of the senior class’s final year festivities. “For me personally, I have a large sense of nostalgia for college* said Senior Class President Bobby Whisnant. “I think I’m very eager to close my undergraduate life, but of course there is a sense of fear because you don’t really know what your life is going to be like one year from now.” These dual feelings of nostalgia and anxi ety are motivations for the celebration. A major goal of the festivities is to encour age more seniors to join the GAA as alumni members before they graduate. “The General Alumni Association con nects you back to the University and back SEE 100 DAYS, PAGE 6 online I dailytarheel.com NO FUNDS FOR YOU NYU leaders lift stipends from striking graduate students GIVE ME WIRELESS Town leaders discuss implementing wireless Internet BLOGGIN' Discuss the Cameron Crazies with the vets at A View from the Press Box Serving the students and the University community sinee 1893 3hc lailu 3m* Itrrl groups which in return likely will endorse a candidate. At midnight, unincorporated neighborhoods north of town, including the Highlands and Fox Meadows, officially were annexed into the town of Carrboro. The move is the result of a long and highly contentious process in which the Carrboro Board of Aldermen voted to annex the areas against many residents’ wishes. “(Today) marks a banner day for municipal imperialism,” said annexed resident Brian Voyce. Now that the shift has taken place, municipal services in those areas trash collection, police and fire protection, streetlight installa tion and similar issues became Carrboro’s responsibilities.
