latty ®ar Mwl Tar Heels dominate No. 31 Volunteers, 6-1 BY NICOLE LUKOSIUS ASSISTANT SPORTS EDITOR The No. 8 North Carolina wom en’s tennis team (5-0) thought of its matchup with Tennessee (0-1) as a test. It passed with flying colors, win ning 6-1 Wednesday night at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tar Heels were victorious in all three of the doubles matches to win the first point of the contest. “I was really impressed with our doubles,” coach Brian Kalbas said. “They were consistent, and I think we caught them a little on their heels.” No. 7 ranked singles player Jenna Long defeated No. 12 Blakeley Griffith in straight sets 6-2, 7-5. Long’s win clinched the match for the Tar Heels, having earned the fourth point needed to secure the victory. Both Long and Griffith are seniors, so they have seen a lot of each other throughout their colle giate careers. “She makes a lot of good balls,” Long said of her opponent. “I just came out really strong in the first set and tried not to lose focus.” ®Are you currently experiencing PAIN jfS) around one or both of your lower WISDOM TEETH?
