Now shoppers in one upscale Scottsdale, Ariz., store can check it out for themselves before someone else makes the observa tion using the Butt Cam, a camera positioned just so and con nected to a video screen on a dressing-room wall. The setup also allows Hub Clothing employees to display views of their more confident shoppers on flat-screen TVs behind the cash registers for all to see. “They want to look good to other people, not just themselves,” said co-owner Tom Simon, who came up with the Butt Cam after watching customers twist and turn in front of mirrors to check out their derrieres. Distributor Atlus Cos. said Tuesday it will remove all 150 “Arm Spirit” arm wrestling machines from Japanese arcades after three players broke their arms grappling with the machine’s mechanized appendage. “We think that maybe some players get overexcited and twist their arms in an unnat ural way,” said Atlus spokeswoman Ayano Sakiyama. POLICE LOG ■ An incident of larceny from a building occurred at 11:48 p.m. Sunday at 115 E. Franklin St., according to Chapel Hill police reports. A suspect stole an 8-foot-by-l foot lighted Pita Pit sign, which was valued at $3,000, reports state. ■ A University student was arrested at 1:55 a.m. Monday at 143 W. Franklin St., Chapel Hill police reports state. Reports state Charles Samuel Hulme, 18, of 218 Mclver Hall, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and underage possession of alcohol. Hulme was released on written promise to appear Sept. 24 in court in Chapel Hill, reports state. ■ An incident of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon was reported at 4:15 a.m. Monday at the intersection of West Franklin and North Graham streets, Chapel Hill police reports state. lath) (Ear HIM A suspect hit a victim in the head with a stick and stole an Ozark book bag valued at $lO, reports state. ■ An incident of breaking and entering and larceny from a vehicle was reported at 3:20 p.m. Sunday at 1807 Fordham Blvd., according to Chapel Hill police reports. A suspect allegedly caused S2OO worth of damages to a vehicle and stole $l5O worth of stereo equip ment, reports state. ■ Donald Cecil Macaully, 29, whose address was listed as the streets, was arrested at 12:07 a.m. Sunday at 143 W. Franklin St., Chapel Hill police reports state. Macaully was charged with misdemeanor counts of assault and battery, disorderly conduct and being drunk and disruptive in public, reports state. Macaully was confined to jail in Hillsborough in lieu of SSOO bail and is scheduled to appear Sept. 24 in court, according to reports.
